Course Description

Dale Verstegen and Amy Dwyre D'Agati discuss perspectives, expectations, processes, and strategies when working with job seekers with significant barriers to employment. Dale and Amy discuss what constitutes significant barriers to employment, the impact these obstacles present to job seekers, and the role employment specialists play in helping their clients obtain meaningful employment. They'll also discuss strategies for overcoming significant barriers to employment, job search and development, and workplace support.

Presenter Profiles

Dale is a Senior Research Associate at TransCen, Inc. and is assigned to a range of research, training, and technical assistance projects in various parts of the country. He brings over 30 years of experience providing training, consultation, and project management for state vocational rehabilitation agencies throughout the country.

As a Senior Associate at TransCen, Inc., Amy provides job development, customized employment training, and technical assistance for several projects on the local and national level. She is a certified national Association of Community Rehabilitation Educators (ACRE) trainer and works with numerous community rehabilitation providers and college-based transition programs to help expand their job development strategies. Additionally, Amy is a national trainer and provider of technical assistance in the areas of transition, marketing and job development, special education, community classroom models, and self-determination.
