Trauma Informed Care
Got Trauma? Most do.
According to the Sidran Institute, an estimated 70 percent of adults in the United States have experienced a traumatic event at least once in their lives and up to 20 percent of these people go on to develop posttraumatic stress disorder, or PTSD.
Trauma informed care is an approach that seeks to engage people with histories of trauma by recognizing the presence of trauma symptoms, and acknowledge the role that trauma has played in their lives.
During this webinar, Dr. Trevor J. Manthey discusses trauma-informed principles and strategies for improving trauma-informed communication. You’ll have the opportunity to reflect on your own causes of stress/trauma and, importantly, what you can do to alleviate them. Participants are encouraged to develop plans – both personally and within an organization – that implement the concepts covered in the presentation.
During this presentation, Dr. Manthey outlines ways to:
- Identify trauma in its many forms
- Recognize the presence of trauma and acknowledge the role it plays in consumer outcomes
- Implement trauma informed practices in your agency
